Emergency Vet Care in Dubuque, IA

If you think your pet is having an emergency, please call to let our team know about the situation. As an added safety measure for our clients, one of our veterinarians is on call after hours to address emergency-related questions for current patients (seen within the last 14 months for an exam and vaccines). For overnight emergencies:

  • Current patients (seen for routine care in the past 14 months), please call (563) 583-8387 and follow the prompts to be connected to our veterinarian on call.
  • For non-current patients and not-yet patients, take your pet to the nearest 24 hour emergency veterinary center or see below for our recommended ER animal hospitals.

When pets need to stay in the hospital, it’s important to understand the difference between overnight stay and overnight care. Some facilities provide space for pets to remain in the hospital overnight, but do not have staff on-site after hours to monitor them. PetMed does not offer over night care. Neither we nor anyone in Dubuque or the Tri-State area offers overnight staffing, and we want you to have full transparency when it comes to your pet’s care.

If your pet requires continuous monitoring, we will recommend referral to a facility that offers 24-hour staffing so they receive the attention they need. During our regular hospital hours, you can count on our dedicated team to provide attentive, compassionate care and to discuss the best options for your pet’s safety and wellbeing.

What If My Pet Needs Urgent Care Today?

Our pets can have urgent medical situations just like we can. Our locally owned PetMed of Key West Veterinary Clinic is equipped to make sure your pet is seen as promptly as possible and is given the necessary care. If advanced monitoring is required, we will refer you to a trusted facility equipped to provide care best suited to your pet's needs.

Be sure to call our hospital at (563) 583-8387 if you’re worried about your pet, and we will do our best to assist you!
