Services We Can Provide During Vet House Calls
Services we can safely perform in your home include:
- Most wellness exams
- Vaccinations
- Blood draws (for testing at our clinic)
- Nail trims
- Heartworm tests
- Hospice/euthanasia
If your pet requires more advanced services such as X-rays, surgery, or dental care, we can help you schedule an appointment.
What to Expect
Make sure you have a quiet, comfortable, well-lit space in your home where we can treat your pet. This ensures a safe, smooth appointment for your pet, you, and our staff. In-home appointments are set for 30 minutes, so please make sure that you and your pet are both ready as soon as we arrive.
A limited pharmacy will be available for in-home care. However, the full pharmacy is available during regular business hours at PetMed of Key West Veterinary Clinic and any additional medication your pet needs can be picked up there.
House Calls
Our house calls are typically scheduled on Mondays with Dr. Hellert and require a $150 non-refundable fee. During these visits, we can provide basic care only, including the list of services above. Any advanced diagnostics must be performed in-clinic at PetMed of Key West Veterinary Clinic. We understand that there are a variety of circumstances that may indicate the need for a house call, but this type of appointment should not be used for emergency care or after 4 p.m.
In-Home Euthanasia
Regardless of whether you are a new or current patient, our team at PetMed of Key West Veterinary Clinic is here for your family and your pet during this difficult time. Scheduled in-home euthanasia appointments are typically on Monday or Tuesday, as long as they are not an emergency. Our team will ensure a compassionate process with intravenous or intramuscular sedation to eliminate stress for your pet. When you are ready, our team will give your pet the euthanasia injection through an IV.
If you choose S&S Cremation for your pet’s aftercare and opt for a private cremation, our team will contact you when the remains are returned to our hospital, usually within about a week.
