In-Home Mobile Vet Care in Dubuque, IA

There may be times when you need in-home mobile vet care for your pet. If you can’t travel to us, contact PetMed Animal Health Center and we may be able to come to you! Our team can generally travel within a 10-mile radius of our hospital, but for an additional charge, we can travel within a wider, 30-mile radius of Dubuque.

We understand that some circumstances may require a vet house call. To provide the best care possible to your pet, a veterinarian and technician will arrive at your home at a scheduled time to provide the services your pet needs.

We offer in-home veterinary services one day a week with advanced scheduling. To set up an in-home visit for your pet, call us today at (563) 583-8387.

Services We Can Provide During Vet House Calls

Services we can safely perform in your home include:

  • Most wellness exams
  • Vaccinations
  • Blood draws (for testing at our clinic)
  • Nail trims
  • Heartworm tests
  • Hospice/euthanasia

If your pet requires more advanced services such as X-rays, surgery, or dental care, we can help you schedule an appointment.

What to Expect

Make sure you have a quiet, comfortable, well-lit space in your home where we can treat your pet. This ensures a safe, smooth appointment for your pet, you, and our staff. In-home appointments are set for 30 minutes, so please make sure that you and your pet are both ready as soon as we arrive.

A limited pharmacy will be available for in-home care. However, the full pharmacy is available during regular business hours at PetMed Animal Health Center and any additional medication your pet needs can be picked up there.

In-Home Pet Euthanasia

dog euthanasia mobile vet care

The decision to euthanize is never an easy one. Euthanasia literally means to give a “good death,” and Dr. Hellert believes this to be the “hardest act, and the greatest gift” you can give your pet. And it is OK. It is OK to be sad. It is OK to mourn. And it is OK to say goodbye.

If you need help deciding on the right time for euthanasia, please contact us for guidance. Our team will be happy to discuss hospice care, pain control options, and quality of life concerns for your pet. You can make a telehealth appointment with our doctors and together we will come up with a plan that is best for your family.

If you think that now is the right time, our team offers in-home euthanasia for the comfort of your pet and your family. We work with S&S Cremation of Centralia, IA to offer cremation, paw prints, urns, and personalized nameplates. Or you may prefer to bury your pet in a special spot you have already picked out.

Whatever you and your family choose to do, know that PetMed Animal Health Center is always here to provide support. Call us at (563) 583-8387 if you have any questions or concerns about your pet, and our team will be glad to help.
